Of every product we sell the electric unicycles are by far the hardest to learn how to ride. Join Mike as he explains how he rides and teaches others how to ride an electric unicycle for the first time.

When learning any new skill for the first time it’s always important to set yourself up for success. With this video we try and give you tips to do just that. Some people will be able to naturally pick up riding an electric unicycle easily. While others will have to put in many practice sessions to be able to get it. To keep improving your new skill we recommend many short sessions. You will best retain the last thing you did in your training session so always end on a positive note. Do not be discouraged if are not able to ride independently after only a few sessions, everyone learns at different speeds and if you remain persistent you will get it.

We’ve trained many different people over the years how to ride Segways as well as electric unicycles. Never have we had anyone who wasn’t able to learn who wanted to. If you want it badly enough and practice lots it is a completely achievable goal for everyone. Even if you think you “don’t have very good balance” that does not immediately disqualify you from being able to learn, it may just take a little longer.

Learn How to Ride an Electric Unicycle: Step-by-Step

  • Find one or ideally two people to help you

  • Put on your safety gear, a helmet is the minimum we recommend

  • Turn on your EUC and fold down the pedals

  • Place your most dominate foot on the pedal (whichever comes naturally, don’t overthink it)

  • Lean your knee into the EUC as you prepare to step on

  • Hold onto your helpers (one of them should be prepared to grab your EUC just in case)

  • Stand up straight and look forward to a distance of at least 30 feet

  • Slowly step on using your helpers to balance

  • Push and pull on your helpers as necessary to remain balanced, don’t let them balance you

  • Practice speeding up and slowing down by leaning forward and back while standing up straight

  • Practice side to side balance by executing tight turns back and forth

  • Practice stepping off slowly, be prepared to grab your EUC as you step off

  • Keep sessions short and always end on a good note

  • Most important: Have Fun!
